- Leader
has prepared a presentation titled "Digital and HDTV Primer" that
includes a handout package that will be presented at selected venues in
addition to the Road Show.
-
- The
Digital & HDTV Primer assumes the participant is familiar with NTSC. It
will briefly explain the meaning of component video and relate this back
to RGB for improved understanding, then move on to explain quantizing
and its effects (how the number of bits effect video for example) and
move on to describe parallel video and how it is serialized. The
connection between analog video (with sync information) and digital
video (no sync, anc data space, TRS/EAV/SAV) will be shown a discussion
of the various video levels (will relate them to a SMPTE or color bar
for SD and HD) and how and why the levels are different between analog,
SD and HD will be conducted.
-
- Once
this has been explained, time permitting, we will discuss serializing
and the eye pattern as well as offer a couple of technical notes on
system timing (between SD and HD).
-
-
This presentation should be
useful to most video engineers that are not experienced with digital
yet; for those with good digital experience, it could be a good reminder
of what they already know.
