I am married to Virginia Cutforth for about 32 years now. I have two children; Carl now the Denver Chief for Hispanic Broadcasting's three Denver radio stations, and Elsie who is the administrator and also teaches Preschool at Hope Academy in Colorado Springs. I am a Deacon, chairman of the board, and sing in the choir at Central Bible Church in Lakewood, Colorado and am on the board of Directors of Western Indian Ministries in Window Rock, Arizona. I once owned an FM radio station in Ouray, Colorado and now have singleton applications for three new AM stations. I started working in radio in 1967 after receiving a first class radiotelephone license. My first job was babysitting the transmitter at an AM directional station. I became a Ham radio operator in 1965 as WAØMGJ and presently hold an advanced class license. I like to build things... like a 1300 sqft. addition to my house and my 1965 Corvair electric car (see picture above). I joined Vir James Engineers in 1979 and bought the business from Vir in 1983. I am registered as a PE in the state of Colorado and a member of the Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers. I have been a member of SBE since the 1970's and was one of the first round of certified broadcast engineers now holding certified professional broadcast engineer level.
I rarely buy admission to
the NAB show over the years as I prefer to present a technical paper there
instead. If someone says it can't be done I have probably tried it...from
making ribbons for an RCA microphone to developing prototype anti-skywave
antennas. Return to Membership List page |
